A team of 20 volunteers from tractor, groundcare and construction machinery specialist Kubota are hoping to win the Mix96 Tour de Vale team trophy as they prepare to cycle in the charity event held on Sunday 7 June.
The team is looking for sponsorship as they hope to raise a significant amount of money for a good cause and take home the trophy, which is awarded to the team that raises the most funds for the benefit of Wheel Power. The national charity works in conjunction with the Guttmann Sports Centre, Birthplace of the Paralympics, and is dedicated to providing opportunities for disabled people to help them live healthy active lifestyles via sport and games.
The Kubota team are taking part for the second year running, and aim to beat last year’s fundraising effort of £1,500, which in turn will help Wheel Power match the 2014 total of £46,000 raised in what was the largest ever Tour de Vale bike ride with 1,800 riders taking part.
This year the team will cycle 25km, 60km and 100km courses, starting and finishing at Stoke Mandeville Stadium and travelling through Buckinghamshire countryside and villages. In addition, Kubota volunteers will be acting as marshals to help officiate the ride.
Dave Roberts, Managing Director of Kubota UK, commented: “We were extremely proud to take part in the event last year and following its success, a group of staff at Kubota have organised an even greater fundraising effort this year for a charity that we feel very passionate about.
“People of all levels of cycling experience have embraced the challenge and the team of 20 people, including myself, has been training hard over the past few months.
“Kubota dealers, local businesses and our peers in the tractor, groundcare and construction industries were all very generous with donations last year and we hope that they will continue to support us this year to assist Wheel Power and its fantastic work.”
