On the shores of County Clare, Feargal grows and harvests some of the finest oysters in Ireland.
When Feargal bought his Kubota M7060 from local dealer David Garrihy Tractors, owner TJ galvanized the wheels and under carriage to protect it from the effects of seawater corrosion.
With over 9 hectares of coastline to farm, Feargal grows oysters in special bags on shoreline stands, using his Kubota tractor to grade oysters and pulling trailer loads of oysters from shoreline to road. Taking 3 to 4 years to harvest there is always a job to be done every day and in all weathers. Relying on just his Kubota, one man and his tractor harvest 20 – 30 tonnes of oysters each year, which are sold both locally and wholesale to international markets.
Kubota was Feargal’s first choice because there were plenty of extras in the standard specification compared to other tractors he had seen.
