Meet Osian Iorwerth…

Osian Iorwerth is a placement student working within Kubota (UK)’s agricultural and ground care machinery marketing team.

With farming in his blood, Osian grew up helping at his uncle’s farm on the island of Anglesey in north Wales. Those formative years influenced his decision to pursue a career in the agricultural industry.

Osian is currently enjoying a 12-month placement with Kubota, as part of a four-year degree course at Harper Adams University, studying agriculture with mechanisation, before returning to the classroom later this year to complete his course.

“My placement year with Kubota has been absolutely fantastic so far, and it offers a broad understanding of both the business and the industries in which Kubota operates,” he says. “I chose to apply for Kubota because I had heard great things from Lucy Amos, a previous student of Harper Adams University who is now a graduate management trainee with Kubota.”

Osian says the placement has been hugely rewarding so far, and is split between spending six months with the agricultural and ground care division, followed by six months with the construction division.

“There’s a lot more to Kubota than meets the eye,” he says. “And I’m grateful for the chance to be involved, and to be given the opportunity to use my own initiative to develop my own skills and also bring something to the table during my time with Kubota.”

Away from work, Osian is a keen rugby player, and has recently joined local Oxfordshire team Chinnor RFC where he gets to play with the third team. “Playing sport is a great way to mentally reset, and with a different bunch of people,” he adds. “And if I get the chance, going skiing is my second sporting passion.”
