Meet Lucy Amos!
Having completed a degree course in Agri-Food Marketing with Business at Harper Adams University, Lucy Amos has recently returned to Kubota (UK), enrolling in a newly developed graduate management trainee programme.
Formerly a placement student who spent 2022/2023 working within Kubota’s agricultural and groundcare machinery marketing team, Lucy admits she always planned to come back to the business.
“I enjoyed my placement with Kubota and during that time it became obvious to me that returning to Kubota would be a fantastic way to kick-start my career,” she says. “The graduate management trainee programme offers much more variety than my placement, which should help me to gain a greater understanding of the markets in which Kubota operates.”
The two-year programme is structured to give management trainees a period of six months working within each of four key areas of the business; agricultural and ground care machinery; aftersales; construction; and engines.
Lucy’s first phase of the programme has been spent working within the agricultural and ground care machinery division. So far, she has helped to develop an incentives scheme for sales staff; provide customer segmentation and market analysis; and co-ordinate with European colleagues on lost sales.
In addition, Lucy is also involved with internal audit processes for ISO standards and compliance.
“I do love a bit of data analysis,” she adds. “It provides a deeper insight into what’s really going on.”
Developing projects as she works through each area of the business is a process she believes will help her to determine which department best suits her skill-set.
“My goal is to use the graduate management trainee programme to secure full-time employment somewhere within Kubota (UK),” adds Lucy.
Having slotted back into the local area as if she never left, Lucy plays rugby for Chinnor Kites and is program secretary for Princes Risborough YFC (Young Farmers Club).
“I do enjoy my rugby,” she adds. “It’s a great way to keep fit and also to let off steam, and who doesn’t want to be part of their local YFC.”
