THE MOUNT STUART TRUST make headway with restoration plans for Bute Estate’s historic gardens thanks to a little help from Hamilton Brothers and Kubota.

Hailed as the Isle of Bute’s crowning jewel, Mount Stuart, a Neo-Gothic Victorian mansion with 300 acres of gardens and grounds is one of Scotland’s most stunning tourist attractions. With the celebration of Mount StuartGarden’s 300th anniversary this year, the Gardens Team have turned to their trusted Groundcare Machinery dealer, Hamilton Brothers, to help with restoration plans.

With several old Kubotas in their garden fleet, Don Murray M.Sc., FCIHort, FLS, Head of Landscapes and Horticulture at Mount Stuart, and his team decided an upgrade was needed in order to maintain their historic gardens and surrounding estate, and who better to turn to than Hamilton Brothers, their dealer of 25 years!

Don said, “Our two most recent purchases, the Kubota G23 High Tip and B2650 Tractor, will assist the Gardens Team to re-define one of Scotland’s most notable designed landscapes through a period of planned restoration works and reinvigorating of the gardens. The machines enable us to raise our horticultural standards across the 300 acres of garden including managed wild areas along a stunning coastline”.

Hamilton Brothers, which recently celebrated its 40th anniversary as West of Scotland Kubota Groundcare dealers and service agents, have worked closely with the team at Mount Stuart for over 20 years. Eric Gardiner, Hamilton Brothers Managing Director said, “We are delighted to continue to supply the team at Mount Stuart with Kubota Groundcare machinery and equipment. It is an honour to help in the maintenance of one of Scotland’s most beautiful landscapes and we hope to supply machinery to the Trust for another 25 years to come!”

Originally a household to the Stuarts of Bute, the Estate remained a family home until the early nineties when it was opened to the public. The Bute Family motto “Avito Viret Honore” means “to flourish in an honourable ancestry” and all Bute Family businesses, including the Mount Stuart Trust place importance on supporting fellow family businesses. Don Murray said, “At Mount Stuart Trust we like to celebrate family businesses like Hamilton Brothers. We receive fantastic customer service and quality products from both Hamilton Brothers and Kubota.”

The Mount Stuart Trust works to fulfil the vision of the late John, Marquess of Bute, who generously endowed The Mount Stuart Trust with Bute Estate so the public could enjoy its gardens and surrounding grounds, and benefit from its collections and archives. The famous gardens are home to a spectacular collection of native and exotic flora, including several important botanic specimens and champion Rhododendrons which grow alongside plants that are endangered in their natural habitats.
